ICB CERTIFIED SENIOR BOOKKEEPER (FET AND TRAINING CERTIFICATE BOOKKEEPING)


The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) is a Professional Institute operating in the financial sector, one of the largest sectors in the South African economy, and is in dire need of qualified professionals.  This is not the only sector in which financial literacy has been identified as a scarce skill. Every industry in the economy needs financial professionals.

The ICB ensures that all its members have achieved the highest level of knowledge and skills necessary for the workplace
Completion of the monthly and annual bookkeeping function:
Accounting Technician functions:
Ability to operate with management in an accounting environment
Comprehensive knowledge of bookkeeping, financial accounting management accounting, cost accounting, personal and business taxation, business law and accounting control.
Through knowledge of personal and business taxation and the Income Tax Act, the calculation of taxable income for both individuals and businesses, the skills completion of income tax returns as well as ability to provide advise to clients and be current on South African income tax calculation and collection.
Working knowledge of business law and accounting control (the audit function) including basic contract and insurance law, insolvency law and computer auditing
Certified Tax Technician (CTT) status as a member of the South African Institute of Tax Practitioners with a tax practitioner’s number allowing him/her to complete monthly and annual SARS returns on behalf of a client

DURATION:

Is dependent on the mode of training and can take between 12; 18; 24 months. The programme is available on be taken on long distance.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 

  • You must be 16 years and above
  • A recognized qualification from an education institution or
  • National Certificate in Senior Bookkeeping or
  • Non-accounting professional qualification

Module 4:  Computerised Bookkeeping
Module 5: Financial Statements
Module 6: Cost and Management Accounting
Module 7: Income Tax Returns
Module 8: Business Law and Accounting Control

SAQA ACCREDITATION

Certified Technical Accountant is registered and aligned to SAQA qualification/unit standards.

EXAMINATION SESSIONS:

Learners are assessed through a Portfolios of Evidence (PoE) and can choose amongst a selection of suitable all year round dates for assessment.

ASSESSMENT/CERTIFICATION/AWARDING BODY

Learners are required to write assessments per module as well as submit PoE’s projects. The Certification body for the National Certification Bookkeeping Qualification is the ICB.
