ICB CERTIFIED JUNIOR BOOKKEEPER (NATIONAL CERTIFICATE BOOKKEEPING)

The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) is a Professional Institute operating in the financial sector, one of the
largest sectors in the South African economy, and is in dire need of qualified professionals. This is not the only
sector in which financial literacy has been identified as a scarce skill. Every industry in the economy needs financial
professionals.
The ICB ensures that all its members have achieved the highest level of knowledge and skills necessary for the workplace
Completion of the monthly bookkeeping function to trial balance:
The Accounts Clerk function
Debtors Clerk function
Supplier statement reconciliation-Creditors Clerk function
Inventory systems and bank statement reconciliation
Payroll Clerk functions from a bookkeeping perspective including calculation of PAYE/SDL/IUF remuneration and
the monthly EMP deductions and completion of the monthly EMP201 returns.
Completion of annual IRP 5, IRP 6 and IT 3a documents, EMP501and VAT 201 return using both the manual
submission system and E-Filing.

DURATION:

Is dependent on the mode of training and can take between 12; 18; 24 months. The programme can be taken on
long distance.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

• You must be 16 years and above
• A recognized qualification from an education institution or
• National Certificate or
• Non-accounting professional qualification

EXAMINATION SESSIONS:

Learners are assessed through a Portfolios of Evidence (PoE) and can choose amongst a selection of suitable all year round dates for assessment.

ASSESSMENT/CERTIFICATION/AWARDING BODY

Learners are required to write assessments per module as well as submit PoE’s projects. The Certification body for
the National Certification Bookkeeping Qualification is the ICB.
