Spectrium Translation Interpretation Service (STIS)

Introduction

Our translation and interpretation division has been operating since 2005, providing services to companies in South Africa and Africa in general. The languages division was created with the vision of bridging the communication gap between peoples and groups of different origins and backgrounds. Its roots are steeped in the concepts of Spectrium and the African renaissance which have recently emerged as the leitmotiv of a rebirth of the continent. Simply put, Spectrium means languages of Africa; that is, indigenous African languages as well as the European languages that have been adopted as official languages in various countries on the African continent: French, English, Portuguese, Spanish...

The driving force behind Spectrium is a dedicated team of hardworking language practitioners, technicians and administrators who believe in taking on only assignments that they can deliver within the indicated time limit. Our experienced translators and interpreters share values like integrity, professionalism, excellence and dedication. We have a track record of turning out large volumes of well done work within short time frames. We have, for example, translated 40, 000 words within a 24 hour deadline! We always strive to satisfy our clients and we understand that certain documents only get to them at the 11th hour.
Added to the team of translators and interpreters, we have a big pool of revisers and proofreaders who meticulously go through assignments to make sure that assignments have been done properly.

We believe that the efforts of our new democratic government must be supported by business and economic activity that can contribute towards job creation and in turn the eradication of poverty; particularly in previously disadvantaged populations.

Mission

To provide quality language services to government, Non-governmental Organisations and corporate entities.

Experience and Skills

The primary market of the company is South Africa. Over the years, we have handled more than 500 assignments. We have a very long list of satisfied clients who usually come back to us again and again.
Our staff members have many years of experience in the interpreting, translation, media, NGO and corporate sectors as well as in government who know what they are doing. Each person carries out only duties in his/her area of expertise.

Since we fully understand and master the technologies of information and communication, we accept assignments from our clients outside South Africa. We have also gone abroad to handle and provide solutions for interpreting assignments, in countries like Rwanda, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Liberia and Senegal.

Our translators hail from a number of countries: South Africa, Angola, Egypt, Senegal, Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, France, Spain, Cameroon and Mozambique. Most of them have worked in other domains like the media and governance in their various countries. So they bring a wealth of knowledge that other people can only dream about. For example, if you have an assignment in a West African country, say Mali, you can trust us to get you contacts there who will provide services at the cheapest rates.

Languages

Local Languages (IxiZulu, IxiXhosa, Sesotho and Setswana, siSwati etc.)
International Languages (French, English, Portuguese, Spanish etc)

Why should I use an interpreter?

  • To ensure accurate communication between people who have different language needs
  • Because effective professional practice requires both parties to have a clear understanding of each other
  • Because in times of crisis or stress, a person's second language competency may decrease
  • Because all people have the right to access services available to English speaking people irrespective of their ethnic background and first language preference.
