CERTIFIED ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN

ACCA is one of the world's leading accountancy bodies and the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualification is internationally recognised and highly regarded. Candidates who successfully gain the CAT qualification have demonstrated that they can work effectively in accounting support roles in all sectors of business.
The CAT scheme comprises a combination of examinations and practical experience. It is designed to equip you with all the necessary technical skills and knowledge required to fulfill an accounting role to technician level. It also provides a firm foundation of knowledge and the opportunity to fast track towards becoming a professional ACCA accountant.

DURATION: 1 Year

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • You must be 16 yrs & above
  • No matric or work experience required or
  • Matric Exemptions – D symbols in Maths & English an added advantage

EXEMPTION

Students with relevant qualifications from a recognised institution may be eligible to claim exemption from papers within foundations in accountancy.

Students who choose to do the CAT qualification may be eligible to claim exemptions from some or all of the papers within the introductory certificate in financial and management accounting and intermediate certificate in financial and management accounting based on relevant practical experience. Experiential Learning

In addition to completing the CAT qualification learners will need at least one year of workplace experience before they can be allowed to use the letters “CAT” after their names. Learners are advised to look for relevant companies to apply their theory.

ASSESSMENT/CERTIFICATION/AWARDING BODY

Learners are required to write Computer Based Examinations per module. The Certification body for the CAT qualification is the Association Certified Chattered Accountants (ACCA)-UK.

THE TUITION/STUDENT SUPPORT CENTRE

Support seminars/workshops/lectures are run by Spectrium’s Faculty of Finance and Accounting, located in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. Spectrium is a recognized and listed ACCA Student Support Centre.
